The position of a Soil Building Co-Worker s an important position in our operations. Every plant we grow begins with good soil and this position helps us begin the growing process. The ideal candidate for this position is great at following directions and procedures. It’s an ideal position for someone who likes to be active throughout their work day as you’ll be primarily on your feet. You should be able to lift up to 50 pounds - things like bags of soil, peat moss, fertilizer and trays. While you’ll have protective clothing, you should know that you’ll regularly be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. You must have a valid driver's license as you may be needed to drive a vehicle, forklifts and other equipment.
- Assist in maintaining adequate product supplies, prevent shortages and evaluate overages and shortages.
- Constantly look for ways to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency in your area.
- Prepare soil as directed, following instructions for blending recipes and mixes with proper weights and measures.
- Follow proper procedures for ventilation, humidity control, watering, etc.
- Help with the seeding process when needed.
- Operate, calibrate, and clean equipment including flat washer, mixers, seeders, forklift, pallet jack, tractors/wagons, etc. Report facility maintenance and equipment issues to Supervisor or Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- Drive, load, and deliver supplies to and from locations across the farm.
- Maintain cleanliness of supplies, follow good agricultural practices and food safety standards.
- Cross train when appropriate.
- Receive and unload contents of trucks.
- Keep work area clean, neat, and safe. Report any safety issues to supervisor.
- Use problem solving techniques as part of continuous improvement
- Assist with organization of materials and supplies for efficient production.
- Perform any other duties necessary to meet job responsibilities.
